Sponsored Video: LEGO SG100 – Rebuild

Our Jubilee Weekend just passed us by in the most celebratory way. The whole nation rejoiced and celebrated our growth and achievements as a nation, and everyone felt proud to be called a Singaporean. On the streets, even strangers smiled at each other, because somehow we were felt connected as one people. It was a good feeling really, to be able to call this beautiful place, our home.

As we celebrated 50 glorious years as a nation, there had been talks about what kind of country Singapore would progress to be in the future. Inevitably, with all sorts of technological advancements, we envision a future that’s fast-paced, high-tech and very modern and contemporary. As a nation, we would grow financially and economically, and everyone would strive to be a high achiever in their own field. I am no exception – About the future, I am full of hopes and aspirations to do even more.

But when I watched this video by Lego, it suddenly dawned upon me that perhaps, what I’ve always thought to be the ‘right’ thing to do, may not really be the case. In the video, kids were allowed to rebuild a city in the future that they would like to see. Listen to what the little ones have got to say, and you will know what I’m feeling.

I was especially touched when a little girl said that she wants to build Daddy’s office nearer to home so that he can reach home faster after work to play with her. She said that whenever she asks Daddy to play with her, he would always say, ‘Not now, later OK?’ I am guilty as charged, myself. :(

While pursuing material things in life is good, there are many important things in life that we must not neglect as well. Otherwise, we would end up spending our entire life slogging for what we want to have, and have no one to share it with at the end of the day. Let it be a reminder to all of us today. Smile
