Gardens By The Bay Mid-Autumn Festival 2015

Media Invite

Both my mum and mother-in-law are lovers of flowers, so last Saturday, we had a family outing to Gardens By The Bay to check out their latest themed display in the Flower Dome – “Celebration of Chrysanthemums” and the lantern displays outdoors. I was amazed by how many different kinds of chrysanthemums there are! We are most familiar with the yellow and white ones we often see in the wet markets, but at Gardens by the Bay, expect to see over 40 varieties of chrysanthemums including the unique Spider Chrysanthemums that have been specially brought in to Singapore for the very first time!

Oh yes, if you’ve got kids with you, make sure you let them bring along their lanterns to the Gardens by the Bay, because during their Mid-Autumn Festival Children’s Promotion, kids aged 12 years old and below who show up with a lanterns at the ticketing counter from Sep 25 – Oct 4, between 5pm & 9pm, can redeem a free ticket to enter the Flower Dome & Cloud Forest on the same day.

As I entered the Flower Dome, my senses were first wow-ed by the array of colours, then the faint sweet scent that was in the air. It was indeed a precious breath of fresh air after several days of Singapore being covered in haze. I miss the crisp, clear clean air in Singapore!

A stroll in the Flower Dome is always a relaxing and therapeutic experience. It’s similar to visiting an art exhibition, where I would usually leave feeling recharged and nourished in my soul. Love that feeling! Now, take a visual stroll with me first before you make that trip down to Flower Dome yourself!

We then headed outdoors to check out the Mid-Autumn Festival lantern displays. This area is open free-of-charge to public, and with cultural performances happening at the Supertree Grove area, it’s a great place to hang out with your family and friends. We brought our picnic mats and settled down for a picnic, along with many other families who did the same. We even caught the Garden Rhapsody Light Show that evening - The atmosphere was electrifying!

Expect to see 17 different lantern sets, comprising 300 lanterns in total. We saw interesting animal lanterns such as giraffes, zebra, elephants and even dinosaurs!

There is a Food Street with 30 stalls where you can buy some food and just relax and enjoy the time at the Festival. That was exactly what we did – Set up our picnic mats and had our dinner while watching the light show and the cultural performances.

Let this Mid-Autumn Festival be one spent with your loved ones, and filled with love for one another. :)
