The Music Run by AIA 2016

Media Invite

A couple of weeks ago, the husband and I went for our first Music Run, organized by AIA and had a really fun time!

It’s their second year running in Singapore and already, it has won fans from all over the world. From four events in four countries with 35,000 runners in 2014, the plan is for The Music Run by AIA is to hit 40 cities in 18 countries this year and experienced by over 350,000 participants, aka Music Runners, making it one of the fastest-growing fun run events worldwide. So glad that we had a chance to participate in it this year!

Music has always been a big part of our lives, and different genres accompanied us through the different phases of our lives. At The Music Run by AIA, there were five interactive and music themed zones - Rock, Pop, Old School, Hip Hop and Dance. Needless to say, we felt most familiar at the Old School zone – Haha!

I have to say that I was impressed with the entire organization of The Music Run by AIA. Despite the huge participation, the entire event was smooth and packed with entertainment both before and after the race. If I didn’t have to rush home to my kids, I’ll be most glad to hang around and enjoy the fun vibes in that place. Thankfully, we did reach earlier and managed to catch Sam Willows’ performance while relaxing on the big grass patch. The three DJs on stage were so good at getting the people to be hyped up! A group of runners were jumping up and down and dancing away the entire time at the stage front, I was wondering how they would still be able to run 5km after that. Admirable!

Apart from the main stage performances, there were fringe activities for the runners as well such as the inflatable slides, Silent Disco zone, a gigantic keyboard, as well as an area for food & refreshments. It was a very hot day, but the atmosphere was chill. =D

It was a short 5km run, but for someone like me who doesn’t run often, it’s still a challenge. Plus, we had to cover many upslopes during the first leg of the race, so that was tough. I succumbed to walking towards the end but eventually managed to complete the run anyhow. It was more fun than anything else, and the great music along the way helped a lot. We even collected inflatables such as radio and a guitar and brought them home for the kids!

The Music Run by AIA was truly one run that packed in action, fitness, fun and entertainment all into one. Kudos to the organizers for such a great job done! I’ll be back next year for sure! =D
