Media Food-tasting
I never thought of myself as a Korean food fan, but turns out, I like quite a number of their dishes such as the chicken stew, Korean BBQ, teppoki, fried chicken wings and watermelon soju. Korean dishes are usually appetizing because they have strong flavors and most are sour & spicy – Very suitable for my tastebuds. A couple of weeks back, I had a chance to try out the signature dishes at Guksu Korean restaurant at Suntec City, and had a very enjoyable time feasting there with my family. If you recall, this is also the same restaurant that supplied the party food for our guests at Jayne’s 7th birthday party at Cool De Sac, where everyone had a blast!
The moment you step in, you’d notice this bar counter of free flow salads, kimchi and different condiments to enhance your dining experience. I love their kimchi!
At Guksu, one of the must-order dishes is their fried chicken wings. The Koreans are well-known for their perfectly marinated and fried chicken and Guksu does not disappoint, for sure! We were served the Wings Platter that came in three tantalizing flavors – Classic, Soy & Spicy - My favorite was the Soy wings! So crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside – You simply cannot stop at just one!
The platters are served with mashed potato and fruit pickles as well so as to balance the taste buds. Very refreshing!
Don’t worry about getting your hands dirty and oily because disposable gloves are provided for your use. :)
An impressive Daeji Gogi Jeongol was served to our table – This is a classic Korean stew of pork broth, sliced pork, Korean sweet soy sauce, glass noodle, vegetables and mushrooms, and served with two bowls of rice so two or three people can share one portion like this.
Good for eating and good for some DIY frying fun. =D
This next signature dish of Guksu was pleasing not just in the mouth but to the eyes as well – Love colorful food because they look so appetizing! The Budae Jjigae is a traditional Korean stew that comes with beef broth, luncheon meat, pork ham, chicken sausage, Kimchi, bean curd, Korean chili paste, instant noodle, rice cake and vegetables. A set like this serves two to three people.
So many ingredients in one pot – Super hearty!
Guksu is a great restaurant for family bonding – Sharing pots of yummy goodness and laughing over silly things together. Pop by soon for some wonderful family moments soon! :)
