20 Must Dos On Your First Visit To Seoul: Eat, Drink, Walls & Doors

Travel posts are fun to write, but agonizing at the same time. It transports you back to the happy times when you are on a vacation, yet it magnifies the reality that you are actually back in daily routines. Definitely not easy to be back at work after more than a week away (including weekends & public holiday!), but looking back at the photos taken on the trip chased away the blues, for sure!

On the trip, I made an impromptu decision to do an Instagram series on the must-dos on your first trip to Seoul, and you can check out the full list on my Instagram account. I’ll be covering my Seoul trip in this format as well, so that it will also be chronologically documented.
I won’t be uploading my itinerary here, but if you would like a copy, you can drop me a request via email.

Seoul Must-Do #1: Visit Paris Baguette

Yes, I know that we have Paris Baguette in Singapore, serving their coffee in the same adorable cups as well. But coffee overseas is just different. At least, this outlet at Incheon International Airport exudes the Seoulistic feel, don’t you agree?

According to reliable sources (Read: friends), apart from the coffees, try their Swiss Rolls (Come in many flavors from matcha to strawberry, blueberry, etc), red bean ice-cream & ice-cream macaroons. We tried the first two and they were not bad at all. And of course, one can never go wrong with cups as cute as this:

Seoul Must-Do #2: Take Photos With The Doors

There are way too many good-looking doors in Seoul, so waste no chance to get that unique photo you can only get in Korea. This was taken at the Incheon International Airport - Not even a real door, as you can see. =P

Thereafter, I did meet other real doors on the trip and every one was Instagram-worthy!

The traditional Korean houses totally remind me of the Korean dramas I have been watching – So much feels just by being there. :)

Seoul Must-Do #3: Buy Topokki From Food Truck

If I have to pick my favorite Korean street food, this might be it. Love how chewy and spicy it is – Great satisfaction for my taste buds! I love the transformer-style food trucks that open up to be a mobile stall and close up to move away to another location conveniently. Somehow, food bought this way taste better. =P

Seoul Must-Do #4: Photobomb A Colorful Wall Mural

Wall murals are everywhere in Seoul. I love it because it makes me feel happy and inspired everywhere I go. I think it speaks a lot about the promotion of art and creativity in this country, and how the people can freely express their thoughts. This was just one of the first few walls I walked past that had extraordinary artwork.

In the Chungmuro neighborhood where my hotel is located, there is an interesting Street Museum that I walk past everyday to get to the subway station. It is called a Street Museum because the artwork are displayed along the streets, weaved seamlessly into part of the surroundings. If you are in Seoul, it is worth checking the place out even though it is really small. It made my daily walks to and fro the subway station really happy!

To get to Street Museum, take subway to Chungmuro Station Exit 2 or 3, walk straight for 5 mins and turn into alley after you see the turquoise bowing man statue in above pic.
