Seoul Must-Do #11: Have A Convenience Store Supper!

If you are a K-drama lover just like me, this is inevitably one of the must-dos when in Korea. Singapore may be catching up on providing good food options in convenience stores, you can’t find many (if any) places with outdoor seats to savor the food. So, in Seoul, please do it to your heart’s content! Instant ramen is such a big thing in Korea with so many varieties that you won’t know which to choose. Buy as many as you like and just try, I guess though I would strongly recommend going for zhajiangmian or kimchi cheese ramen, which are not as common in Singapore. When you find those you really like, buy lots of them home! Pair it with sweet soju, extra kimchi, and it’ll be a perfect night. Watch people as they walk past, enjoy the food and the cool breeze. Trust me, it’s very therapeutic.

Seoul Must-Do #12: Breakfast at Gwangjang Market!

Local markets are the BEST, period. To have a taste (literally) of local life, squeeze through the crowds at Gwangjang Market and enjoy a hearty (but very oily) breakfast.

Mung Bean and pork pancakes are super delicious and really my kind of breakfast because it’s savory and very delicious. Goes best with makgeolli, pickled onions and kimchi! OH MY, I AM MISSING IT SO MUCH NOW. Don’t worry about which stall to sit down at, because there are literally hundreds of stalls selling similar food options, just sit down at any one and start eating! Bibimbap is also a great choice of breakfast here – From pots of ingredients, just point to whichever you want and they will go into your bibimbap, ready for your feasting!

Seoul Must-Do #13: Go Snapcrazy at Ihwa Mural Village!

Ihwa Mural Village got its name for obvious reasons. It used to be just like any ordinary neighborhood until a group of University students started ‘decorating’ the village with all kinds of murals. Since then, Ihwa Mural Village has become a popular tourist attraction especially after it appeared in a popular K-drama – Rooftop Prince. It is hard for street photography enthusiasts not to go click-crazy here because there are so many photo spots. We had a fun time strolling through the whole village and climbing up and down an insane number of staircases!
