House hunting is such an educational experience. In the course of the last couple of months, my knowledge and understanding about renovation, furniture and furnishing grew so much through all the research I’ve been doing online, reading up on professional advices, interesting articles by interior design companies, online lifestyle magazines as well as sharing from other homeowners’ blogs. One of the places I often see mentioned online is Tan Boon Liat Building, which accordingly to many sources, is one of the places we have to visit when we are planning our house move. I’m glad we finally paid a visit there last week, and it is really true what its reputation says. There are so many furniture and home furnishing shops there, you can really take half a day just going from shop to shop.

Bear in mind though, most of these furniture shops are not exactly cheap, but they may be great places for inspiration, or to find out what you really like in your new home, and even to buy a few pieces of signature furniture. Of course, if budget is not a concern for you, you will shop yourself happy in this place.

To make it easier for you (if you are going there for the first time), here’s a directory you will find useful:

Having visited most of the shops in this listing, my personal favourites are Pomelo, Journey East and The Shophouse because these are the places that sell pieces more inline with the theme of the house we like. I left the place feeling very inspired and more certain about the style that I adore. Who knows – I might be back another time to get some of the pieces we stumbled upon and couldn’t forget. =D
