Media Invite
When I first heard about the arrival of Royal Albatross on the shores of Singapore, I was looking forward to getting onboard for one of their evening cruises. I had my first cruise sunset experience in Vietnam several years ago and it was rather unforgettable, so when Royal Albatross invited us to go for an evening sunset dinner cruise, I was so looking forward to it!
In case you are not aware, the Royal Albatross is an ocean-going super yacht that weighs in at 270 tons with a massive keel to keep her upright and stable. She is so stable, that dinner and drinks (on tables) can be served while underway. I experienced that first-hand and can testify that it’s true!
Boarding for Royal Albatross is from RWS near to the entrance of SEA Aquarium. The check-in was fuss-free because we had completed all pre-boarding procedures online beforehand. After registration, an email verifying the personal details of the passengers, along with safety instructions was sent to me. A couple of days before the cruise, I also received a final confirmation email. Everything was done orderly and fuss-free.
Check out the Royal Albatross – Looks good right?? I love how vintage it looks!
Once boarded, you can choose to hang out in the airconditioned lounge or on the outdoors deck. Once all passengers have boarded, the Captain gives a Welcome Speech and reminders on safety before the ship sets sail right on time. We were on the evening dinner sunset cruise, so dinner was also served moments after the ship set sail.
Before dinner, let me take you on a visual tour around the ship. :)
As you can see, most passengers preferred to stay at the outdoors deck. I personally preferred that too! Once set sail, the warm evening sun glow was so comfortable and the sea breeze, so awesome! Do note that all drinks are separately chargeable.
Welcome drink is on the house though, so we enjoyed that in the comfort of the lounge before getting our dinner.
Our buffet dinner was sumptuous! That evening, we had salad, cold cut platter, turkey with brussel sprouts, roasted sirloin beef, creamy mushroom pasta, roasted vegetables and bratwurst sausages! Everything tasted yummy! =D
There are different packages to cater to your needs. We were Gold class passengers, and we got to enjoy an International buffet spread for dinner. The Platinum class passengers had a separate dining area specially reserved for them, with a three-course dinner served to them. I also saw some others who were only sailing without food or drinks options. Check out your options here.
At the tip of the ship was a seating area where we hoarded for the rest of the sail after dinner. The views were superb and the sea breeze was just so relaxing and comfortable. Before the sunset, there was an announcement that desserts were ready, and we enjoyed cakes and tarts for the rest of the journey. It was magical!
There was a singer onboard as well, and she serenaded everyone with her beautiful voice throughout the cruise. So relaxing- I love the atmosphere onboard!
And of course, the sunset was beautiful and mesmerizing. Sunsets are always amazing. :)
When it grew dark, the lights on Royal Albatross were switched on and it was a whole different look altogether. So beautiful, don’t you agree?
Royal Albatross does not sail everyday, so check out their schedule and make your booking before seats run out! They also have special sails which you can sign up for, or charter the whole ship for your corporate events! More details here: https://www.tallship.com.sg
