It amazes me how fast babies can adapt to new things at a snap of the finger.
I shared on Monday about how we discovered that Baby Jayne’s current sleeping position is no good and thus we are switching her to sleep the opposite way, which is chest-up.
Immediately after the switch that afternoon, she managed to sleep but wakes up at intervals of every 10 minutes. It was a little tough going but understandably so, since it was something different from what she has been doing since birth.
By night time when she usually falls into deep sleep around 9pm, she managed to fall asleep and really slept well without stirring all the way till 12 midnight when I woke her up for a night feed, then propped her back to sleep again. She fell back asleep immediately (with pacifier even!)
Usually she would sleep all the way till 7am, but because of her new sleeping position, she woke up at 430am for another feed before falling asleep again. Just one extra feed, which I have already thanked her a million times for her kindness to me.
Since then, it’s been a breeze till now! No problems falling asleep whatsoever! PRAISE THE LORD!!!!
And the new sleeping position actually came with an unexpected bonus! She now falls asleep all by herself without me patting her at all! I just put her down into the cot while she’s still awake, position everything nicely – beansprout pillow on chest, pacifier in mouth, security blanket stuffed at the side of her face for her to hug. Viola, she falls asleep without making any noise or protest! She may move around a little before falling asleep, but hey, no noise! When she was sleeping chest down, she would push her head up here and there, whine and sometimes need me to pat her for a while before she’d settle into sleep. Now, she can’t really fidget that much, so she can fall asleep better. Sui!
claps claps for baby jayne!!! well done!!!
