Les Miserables is my most favourite musical of all time.
The love started back in my Secondary school days when my best friend then was a huge fan and sang the songs all the time. Then in my JC days when I was in the College Choir, I even auditioned for Fontine and Eponine's roles (and didn't get it - LOL!) and had the opportunity to perform a repertoire version of the musical on stage in front of thousands. I've always been mesmerized by the storyline and the beautiful songs. It was a real pity that I've never had the chance to watch it 'live' in the theatres.
So when I heard that there was going to be a Les Miserables movie, I was elated! Saw the trailers and I couldn't wait to watch it. What's amazing about the movie was that the actors sang all the songs and were recorded on site so that the emotions can all be captured 100%. During filming, there was a pianist at the side who played while the actors acted and sang. In post-production, the symphony was then added in to match the singing. How amazing is that??!
Hubby is a huge fan of Les Miserables as well, so we were really excited to catch the movie as soon as we can. It was such a moving movie!! And it's amazing how much better I know the storyline now that I've watched the movie. I love the plot, the values portrayed such as loyalty, faith, honesty, love... The actors were amazingly talented - All the main casts could act and sing so well - They definitely stirred the audience on with the deep emotions in their voices. I didn't know Wolverine could sing?!!
I teared at so many parts of the movie because the singing were so moving. I don't think I've ever felt so much for a movie before!
If you haven't caught the movie, YOU HAVE TO! It's my last movie of 2012, and definitely the best as well. I'm definitely buying the DVD when it's available, and hopefully, inculcate this love for Les Miserables in my girls? =P
